We Foster Community and Empowerment: Successful Open Days in Kayole and Ruaka

We recently hosted two open days at our new fuel stations in Kayole and Ruaka, bringing together bodaboda riders, industry professionals, and key stakeholders. These open days were not just about fueling up— they were about fueling up on knowledge, connections, and opportunities. The events were a fantastic success, filled with learning, networking, and rewards, all aimed at empowering the bodaboda community.
At OYE, we believe that when riders thrive, the community thrives. These open days were part of our broader initiative to provide riders with the skills and resources they need to operate safely and successfully. Attendees were treated to a series of workshops and sessions focused on critical areas such as road safety, vehicle maintenance, and business management. These sessions were led by industry experts, ensuring that participants left with actionable insights they could immediately implement.
One of the highlights of the day was the comprehensive road safety training provided by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA). As the boda industry continues to grow, safety remains a top priority. The training sessions emphasized the importance of defensive driving, adhering to traffic laws, and wearing proper safety gear like helmets and reflective jackets. For many drivers, this was a valuable refresher that reinforced the need to prioritize safety on the road.
Of course, the day wasn’t all work and no play. Riders were also treated to exciting giveaways, including fuel vouchers, high-quality helmets, and reflective jackets. These prizes were not only practical but also served as a reminder of our commitment to supporting riders in every aspect of their operations.
Beyond the workshops and prizes, the open days provided an invaluable opportunity for riders to connect with one another. The sense of community was palpable as drivers’ exchanged tips, shared stories, and formed bonds that would help them grow both personally and professionally.
As we look ahead, we remain committed to organizing more of these events. Our goal is to create an environment where riders feel supported, empowered, and equipped to succeed.
